Edith M. Gonzales (she/her) conducts agroecological research in community gardens across the central coast of California. The ecological component of her research explores how habitat management can contribute to insect biodiversity. In collaboration with diverse Latinx and Indigenous Latinx communities, she is tracing and reconnecting with lineages of agrarian knowledge and foodways. Edith is a Ph.D. candidate and a member of Dr. Stacy Philpott’s research group (ANTs lab) in the Environmental Studies Department at UC Santa Cruz. Currently, she facilitates the Agroecology & Foodways internship program which seeks to connect students with land-based organizations.
